The Inspired Card

A free rewards card, launched May 2018, for volunteers aged 14 to 30: retail discounts in England and 36 European countries, built by the team behind this site.

A programme of the vInspired charity, 2018. Updated on 13 September 2026

What it was

The Inspired Card, the vCard inside the charity, was a rewards card for young people who volunteered: free to sign up for, “in a matter of minutes”, open to volunteers aged 14 to 30, with retail discounts in England and in 36 European countries through the European Youth Card Association. It was backed by £500,000 of #iwill Fund match funding and by the Mayor of London, and it launched in May 2018. It was built by the charity’s engineering team, led by the engineer who runs Vinspired today.

What it did

The card ran for six months. It was the last new thing the charity launched before it closed in November 2018, and the reason it is remembered here is that the people who built it kept the platform alive afterwards. The full story is on the journey page.

From the archive

The card had its own site, card.vinspired.com, and no blog posts; the journey page records where it sits in the platform’s history.

Coverage

What happened

The Inspired Card closed with the charity in November 2018. Its address is still linked from the coverage of the launch and from at least one school’s careers page, which is why this page exists.

Do this today

Recognition for volunteering today is a record you keep, not a card that expires: verified hours, certificates at 10, 50 and 100 hours, and skill badges any organisation can issue.
