vinvolved
Local vinvolved teams, hosted by volunteer centres across England, that found and funded youth volunteering in their area until the programme closed in 2011.
A programme of the vInspired charity, 2008 to 2011. Updated on 13 September 2026
What it was
vinvolved was the vInspired charity’s local programme: teams hosted by volunteer centres and similar bodies across England, funded by the charity to find, create and pay for volunteering opportunities for 16 to 25 year olds in their own area. The BBC’s Norfolk pages record one example, a digital music magazine for young people, VoluME, paid for through vinvolved funding.
What it did
When the vinvolved teams programme came to a close, the charity set out what would carry on without it: any voluntary organisation could advertise opportunities on vinspired.com for free; the vinspired awards for 16 to 25 year olds continued, validated centrally or by organisations in the awards network; and the charity’s iPhone app stayed available, with apps for other platforms to follow.

What happened
The vinvolved teams closed in 2011, seven years before the charity itself. The BBC page still links to the old funding address, which is why this page exists. What the teams did locally, the platform does nationally today: organisations post roles for free, and volunteers of any age find them by place.
Do this today
The local route survives. Every Vinspired city page lists the organisations and roles near you, and any organisation can advertise a role for free.
