If nothing changes, one in two of us will be directly affected by dementia – either by developing the condition ourselves, caring for someone with it, or both.
We’re determined to stop this from becoming a reality.
We’re working to revolutionise the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. But we will not stop there.
With your support, we will keep going until every person is free from the heartbreak of dementia. We exist for a cure.
Volunteering opportunities
When the going gets tough for our #TeamARUK runners, and the final mile seems a long way off, we give them that extra encouragement they need to get across the finish line! In 2022 our Cheer Squads supported runners in events across the UK raising upwards of £1.5 million! So your help will be a key contributor to raising vital funds for dementia research. Walk For A Cure is an brand new event for everyone impacted by dementia. A cure is within our grasp, together we can make it happen. In supporting this event, volunteers will be creating a platform through which friends & family can gather, share and make a lasting difference to dementia for future generations. Roles include: Greeter, Marshal and Event Village Helper.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our awesome Cheer Squad at the London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday 18th June 2023 Our #TeamARUK cyclists will be taking on the challenging London to Brighton Bike Ride and we need you, your family and friends to whoop and cheer as loud as you can to support our them along the route.
Brand new for 2023 is ARUK Explorer Hike Jurassic Coast. Walkers will tackle an 18-mile circular hike across this magnificent landscape whilst fundraising for vital dementia research! Volunteers will help facilitate this fantastic occasion and make a huge impact!
Launching in July is Walk For A Cure, a brand new event series from Alzheimer’s Research UK. These 5km fundraising walks will bring together everyone impacted by dementia as Alzheimer’s Research UK strive to make a lasting difference for future generations. Alzheimer’s Research UK need your support to make these events happen. Would you like to be a key part of the team on event day?
Our incredible supporters are taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Runners will pass by the capital’s iconic landmarks. We need you to join our Elmer themed cheer squad to support our runners along the route. There will be a brass band and an open top sightseeing bus, a cheer point not to miss! Runner’s will pass our cheer squad two times on the route and your support will give them the motivation to push on. With your support the cheer point will be unforgettable! By donating your time, you are part of our mission to find a cure for dementia.
