Understanding Autism in Girls
Did you know that girls are often diagnosed with autism later than boys? This delay can make school challenging for autistic students, as they might not begin managing their behavior until they are young women, adding to the struggles of teenage life.
Raising Awareness Through Volunteering
This month, one of our vInspired Schools partners is volunteering to raise autism awareness. We encourage students to volunteer within their school communities, thinking creatively about projects that can make a difference. Limpsfield Grange School in Surrey, the only UK school for girls with autism, has been part of our program for nearly a year.
Beth’s Initiative
Beth, a student motivated to raise awareness about autism in girls, recognized the challenge of late diagnosis. She recruited volunteers from her school and applied for funding through vInspired Cashpoint. The group received a grant to create a film showcasing the aspirations of autistic girls.
