Forget a Revolution: These Changemakers Are Putting Politics on Your Radar
Politics, and your attitudes towards them, are garnering serious attention in the media right now. While celebrities express their disillusionment with the political system, young changemakers are actively driving positive change within their communities. Instead of focusing on celebrity protests, these individuals are leveraging their creativity and innovation to inspire civic engagement among the youth.
Changemakers Making an Impact
These four inspiring young leaders are spearheading Cashpoint projects in their communities, promoting positive change through volunteering for young people.
Angel’s Politics Party
During Parliament Week, Angel Layer, 17, organized a politics party to provide young people in Minster on Sea with interactive political education. Her event featured fun stalls, including 5-a-side political party football, encouraging engagement and understanding.
Debating with Kauthar
In October, Kauthar Alkaytab, 17, facilitated debate sessions in North London to encourage discussions on current topics. Her sessions aimed to enhance understanding of government and voting, emphasizing the importance of young voices in shaping the future.
Matteo’s Community Engagement
Matteo Bergamini, 22, founded Haringey Youth Debates to bring students, teachers, and politicians together. His initiative focuses on integrating political education into the National Curriculum, addressing the gap in political awareness among young people.
Linda’s Migration Awareness
Linda Gyamfi’s project, akin to our Routes to Roots campaign, aims to dispel myths about migration in the UK. Her initiative, ‘The Legacy of African Diasporans,’ celebrates the contributions of African migrants, promoting understanding and inclusivity.
Get Involved
Without initiatives like these, politics might remain inaccessible to many young people. If you’re inspired to start a political project in your area, explore Cashpoint for funding and support.
