How You Could Have Footballers Cheering You

It’s not unusual to support footballers from the sofa, but how often do Premier League footballers celebrate you? That’s exactly what happened when Middlesbrough FC’s Marten De Roon and Viktor Fischer presented 13 NCS graduates with certificates at the Riverside Stadium.

And who can blame them? These teenagers lived away from home, developed essential life skills, and worked collaboratively to improve their community, all thanks to the National Citizen Service (NCS).

They transformed Ingleby Care Home by decorating it for Christmas and engaging with the residents, truly embodying the spirit of the season. By positively impacting their community, they also experienced personal growth. As 16-year-old Connor Harris expressed, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. NCS has developed me into a mature young adult.”

Dutch international midfielder Marten De Roon remarked, “I am proud of all our NCS graduates and the positive steps they have taken to stand out among their peers and positively affect the community around them with the MFC Foundation.”

NCS offers young people the chance to change their lives. Any 16 or 17-year-old can participate for as little as £50. They embark on a week-long adventure in stunning places like the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Scottish Borders. During the second week, they contribute to their community. What a great value!

There’s never been a better way to boost your confidence, develop your skills, and make a difference while enhancing your CV. Interested participants can learn more about NCS opportunities on the NCS North East website.
