Our Amazing Young Leaders Graduate in Style!
Yesterday, young volunteers from Aberdeen, Hull, and London celebrated their achievements as they completed their two-year journey in the London 2012 Young Leaders Programme. This inspiring event took place at the British Museum in London, featuring special guests like LOCOG Chair and Olympic Champion, Seb Coe, and Jonathan Edwards.
As part of the ceremony, these young leaders were honored with the opportunity to become London 2012 Games Makers and received tickets to the summer’s Games.
What is the Young Leaders Programme?
The Young Leaders Programme was established to empower 100 young people to make a positive impact on their communities. Over two years, participants worked on diverse projects such as organizing multicultural festivals, promoting healthy eating in schools, and creating a “winter wonderland” for terminally ill children.
Participants also benefited from leadership and communication skills training, with guidance from BP employees and encouragement from notable athletes, including Olympians and Paralympians.
An Inspiring Journey
One of the young volunteers, Fran, reflected: “It’s been an emotional journey. I’ve formed lifelong friendships and wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks to Vinspired for the incredible support. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
Another participant, Matt, now serves on the Vinspired Youth Advisory Board. Reflecting on his growth, Matt said, “The transformation since our first session is remarkable. Building a relationship with my mentor has been invaluable. The skills and confidence I’ve gained will serve me well in university and beyond.”
Representing the Best Our Country Has to Offer
Jayne Colquhoun, Chief Operating Officer, remarked, “At Vinspired, we believe in empowering young people to make a difference. These young leaders exemplify the best of our nation. As the world watches us this summer, I’m proud they’ll be front and center, representing us.”
Congratulations to all the Young Leaders from everyone at Vinspired!
