Our Team v Leaders Have Done It Again! The Launch of Campaign 3
In 2011, Vinspired established a dynamic network called Team v, designed to empower young volunteers aged 18 to 25 to make a significant impact through strategic campaigns. This initiative harnesses the power of socially conscious youth, selecting forty team leaders from across England to implement three national campaigns within their communities. These leaders have already achieved remarkable successes.
Tackling Loneliness and Isolation in Older People
The second campaign concluded recently, focusing on the prevalent issue of loneliness and isolation among older adults. Our innovative leaders demonstrated creativity by organizing intergenerational events, thus raising awareness within their communities. A formidable team of 220 volunteers was recruited, successfully engaging 859 older individuals in activities like Wii tournaments, Tea Dances, Film screenings, and Audio book clubs.

The Third and Final Campaign: Improving Child Literacy
During a recent training residential weekend, we celebrated the successes of Campaign 2 and introduced the theme of the third campaign: enhancing child literacy through storytelling. According to a report by the World Literacy Foundation, an alarming 22% of the UK population is functionally illiterate, with 1 in 3 children lacking access to books. Our leaders are determined to tackle these issues by engaging Key Stage 2 children in reading and writing through pop-up story circles, creative writing workshops, and story writing competitions.
Next Steps for Team v Leaders
The accomplishments of our Team v leaders have been phenomenal, and we are committed to supporting their future endeavors. Leaders have the opportunity to apply for a Team v Scholarship, valued at up to £1000, upon completing the programme. This scholarship reflects our belief in the transformative power of volunteering for personal development and community impact. Stay tuned for announcements about the 2012/13 Team v programme and learn how young people can participate and make a difference.
