School Achieves 10,000 Hours of Volunteering
Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre (HAJC) celebrates a remarkable achievement by logging 10,000 hours of voluntary work through Vinspired. Since joining the platform in 2013, over 200 students have actively participated in various volunteering activities, earning more than 70 Vinspired awards for their dedication, ranging from 10 to 100 hours of community service.
The benefits of engaging with Vinspired Schools have been manifold for both staff and students. Emily Adams, a Vinspired student ambassador, highlights how the award system “provides recognition for the work done and creates opportunities for students and their communities.” The program’s success is partly due to peer influence, as student ambassador Georgie Moore notes, “Encouraging participation is more effective when it comes from fellow students rather than teachers.”
Michael Betteridge, HAJC Sixth Form Adviser, underscores the strong partnership with Vinspired, emphasizing the importance of recognizing students’ efforts. He states, “In an era where young people face criticism, this milestone showcases the exceptional students we have, all selflessly contributing their time to make a difference.”
Phoebe Carter, another student ambassador, adds, “The platform has inspired young people to explore diverse paths, enhancing skills, building confidence, and unveiling new career prospects.” With government statistics indicating that one in four 16-25-year-olds is not in education or employment, such initiatives are crucial.
The commitment of Hinckley Academy to fostering brighter futures and supporting the local community is evident through their achievement. Their 10,000 volunteer hours reflect a dedication not only to personal growth but also to civic engagement.
Frances Mapstone, Interim CEO of Vinspired, commended the school’s efforts: “Hinckley Academy and John Cleveland Sixth Form should be proud of their exceptional results. Their dedication to helping students realize their potential through volunteering and social action has undoubtedly impacted the community while fostering skills, confidence, and readiness for work. We eagerly anticipate their future accomplishments.”
