Summer of Give at Creamfields 2010
As the ‘Summer of Give’ concludes, I had the privilege of volunteering with Vinspired at the renowned Creamfields Dance Festival. From the very first day, the energy and enthusiasm on the bigvbus were palpable.
It’s heartening to witness the generosity of so many individuals, willing to dedicate their free time to help others. With over 20 volunteers present, the spirit of teamwork and collaboration was evident, even if the weather wasn’t perfect, everyone wore a smile. This experience highlights that, for many, it’s not about financial gain but the impact they can make.
The creativity of our volunteers was on full display. Groups like ‘Bin There Drum That’ showed us innovative ways to create music using recycled materials. Such creativity and innovation were inspiring.
In addition to these amazing volunteers, we were joined by DJs from the festival. From the bigvbus, we enjoyed performances by emerging artists like ‘iCALLSHOTGUN’ and were dazzled by Hannah, a talented belly dancer. Also, our comedian Russ kept everyone entertained with his humor.
Exploring the festival, I discovered the excitement around acts like DeadMau5 and David Guetta, whose performances created an unforgettable atmosphere.
Day Two Highlights
On the second day, blessed by sunshine, we had a packed schedule. Russ returned with more comedy, and Hannah continued to captivate with her dance. Volunteer Rowan impressed us with devil stick demonstrations.
Seeing DeadMau5 and David Guetta live was a memorable experience. The crowd’s energy was contagious, making it a highlight of my time at the festival.
Reflections on Volunteering
Volunteering with Vinspired has profoundly changed my perspective. Initially, I was reluctant, seeing it as a chore. However, this experience has been anything but dull. I’ve met incredible people, gained new skills, and enjoyed the fulfillment of helping others. The added bonus of a free festival ticket for a few hours of service each day was unbeatable.
I hope my experience encourages others to volunteer and see how rewarding it can be. Employers value volunteer work on CVs, making it a win-win situation.
