Retail Ready People is an innovative program designed for young people, aged 16-25, to gain practical experience in retail by setting up and managing a high street shop. This initiative, in partnership with Retail Trust, aims to transform empty retail spaces into vibrant community hubs.

Why Get Involved?

With youth unemployment at an all-time high, there’s a pressing need for creative solutions that enhance employability and skills. Volunteering for young people through programs like Retail Ready People offers a cost-effective way to boost skills such as leadership, creativity, and innovation.

Accessing skill development resources on Vinspired plays a crucial role in building a skilled workforce. According to Vinspired’s research, volunteering not only aids in skill development but also motivates and retains staff while attracting new talent.

Program Highlights

This year, Retail Ready People will kick off in Brighton & Hove City and the London Borough of Enfield, recruiting 60 young individuals. Participants will receive training and support from retail and business experts, transforming an empty shop into a creative retail space for up to one month.

Through this program, young volunteers will: - Develop key skills like communication, self-confidence, and teamwork - Gain practical business experience - Engage in community development

How to Participate

We are looking for passionate and committed young people who want to make a positive impact on their high street while developing their retail and enterprise skills. Whether you’re already working in retail or seeking to explore retail careers, Retail Ready People welcomes you.

Applications are open for those aged 16-25 living, working, or studying in Brighton or Enfield.
