Vinspired’s Response to the Positive for Youth Consultation

Youth Volunteering

In July, the Department for Education released 20 comprehensive discussion papers under the “Positive for Youth” initiative. Vinspired, eager to contribute, collaborated with NCVYS to produce a coordinated response.

Leading the Charge

Vinspired led the response on “Young People’s Role in Society,” collaborating with Community Matters, Changemakers, and Platform 51. Leveraging our research and youth programs, we independently addressed three additional papers focused on helping young people succeed in education and employment, the National Citizen Service, and the role of businesses in youth support.

Key Themes

Role of Education

Despite the packed school curriculum, integrating youth-positive initiatives through PSHE, citizenship education, and peer mentoring remains crucial. Schools can adopt these as part of traditional or alternative curriculums.

Partnership Power

Effective youth support requires collaboration among the voluntary sector, government, public sector, and businesses. We’ve showcased how these partnerships strengthen the “Positive for Youth” agenda.

Skilled Workforce

A competent workforce, including qualified youth workers, is essential for fostering resilience and offering diverse opportunities. Our volunteers testify to the doors opened and support received through such initiatives.

Funding the Vision

The pressing question remains: how will the “Positive for Youth” vision be funded? We await the Youth Policy Statement for clarity.
