Abigail has been volunteering at the Martin Mere Wetland Centre since June 2013, achieving her v10, v50, and v100 awards. Our roving reporter recently spoke to her about her impactful work.
What Does the Martin Mere Wetland Centre Do?
Martin Mere is a wetland nature reserve managed by the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust. It focuses on conserving the wetland environment and protecting the wildlife that thrives there. The centre encourages local interest in the environment and wildlife, especially among younger guests, through activities such as pond dipping, canoe safaris, and otter talks, alongside special events throughout the year.

Abigail finds fulfillment in educating young visitors about the environment, emphasizing the importance of conservation. She notes the rewarding experience of seeing children enjoy and engage with nature.
