Why offer volunteering opportunities?

Right now, around 850,000 young people aren't in education, employment or training. Young people have more debt, and fewer opportunities, than ever before.

At the same time, communities are struggling. Across the UK, community segregation already costs us an estimated £6 billion every year.

Volunteering helps young people thrive, and transforms the communities they live in. It teaches them vital skills and prepares them for the future.

32 million over-16s already volunteer. They make a massive contribution to communities, charities and individuals across the country, But if we harness the power of young people we can do even more.

In 2018, vinspired helped 31,439 young people do 460,611 hours of voluntary work. That's the equivalent of £2.3 million added to the economy. We partner with over 4,400 charities, in every corner of the UK. And we work with young people from the ages of 14 to 25, offering a full path toward training and employment.

What counts as volunteering?

Our volunteering marketplace is full of different roles, with different levels of commitment and responsibility.

This allows volunteers to choose something that fits with their schedules - whether they've got 2 or 20 hours a week going spare. All we ask is that every role has a clear benefit to society.

That could be helping people, the environment or the local community. If you’re not sure if your role is suitable, we’d be more than happy to discuss it with you.

Is there a way to thank my volunteers?

Volunteers can apply for a vinspired Awards when they reach 10, 30, 50 and 100 hours. This is a great way for them to get recognition for their good deeds and something they can talk about when applying for college, university or a job.

As an organisation, you can becoming a vinspired Awards provider, allowing you to give awards. When your volunteers apply for a vinspired Award their application comes direct to you to review and approve.

This gives you an easy way to monitor their progression and the chance to present the award certificates in your own way.
