What is Make a Smile?
Make a Smile is a charity that visits disabled, neurodivergent, and disadvantaged children as beloved fictional characters, such as princesses and superheroes, to bring some magic to their day. Learn more about us on our website: https://makeasmile.org.uk/
Why join Make a Smile?
- To put giant smiles on children's faces! (need I say more?)
- Make a difference in the community and be a part of something bigger than yourself
- Meet new people and befriend very cool people
- Enhance your CV, show employers you have a heart!
- Refine your teamwork, communication and leadership skills
- Have fun at the events!
Tasks:
As a registered volunteer, you will get information on upcoming events you can attend. Your job will be to dress up as a character and meet the children. Events can be in a wide variety of places, e.g. hospital, local library, community centre, at another children's charity event, online and more. They can involve talking to the children, playing with them, watching a show with them, reading to them...etc.
Benefits and perks:
Full volunteer and safeguarding training is provided. At every event, there will be a lead volunteer who is experienced with events or who is a committee member. On top of that, you will also be supported by the committee who will deal with any issues that arise and any queries you might have. Certificates can be produced if you would like them. You can also apply for a free DBS check!
Requirements:
No prior experience required, we are simply looking for enthusiastic people who would like to spread joy and happiness.
