Schools Disability Awareness Programme Secondary School Lead

About this role:

Time Commitment: 5 hours per month half day weekday   

Location: Local schools in Southwest London and Richmond borough  

Skills Needed 

• - Supporting the Main facilitator during the workshop settings 
• - Be able and confidant to lead sessions when needed   
• - Helping set up and organise activities and materials  
• - Experience with children and young adults (11-18 yrs) 
• - Provide additional support children and young adults if needed 
• - Comfortable discussing and answering questions about their disability while maintaining appropriate bound areas 
• - Must be able to travel to destination within the borough or SW London expenses are covered  
• - Tech experience wanted but not required – Training will be provided 
• - Be able to lead a workshop when required and follow the curriculum  
• - Flexible working  
• - Experience with Teenagers – not essential but preferred 
• Have lived experience of Disability – this is required for this role:
• - Feel comfortable supporting a group of volunteers
• - Feel comfortable being the main point of contact with the school
• - Are able to lead 2 sessions per month, minimum
• - Have experience working with children or young people, in a voluntary or paid capacity
• - Are able to travel to schools within the Richmond Borough or SW London (expenses are covered)
• - Have some tech experience, training provided

What will I be doing?

This will be:

• - Learning the curriculum for the Secondary Schools programme
• - Leading sessions in schools with support of assistants
• - Helping set up and organise activities and materials
• - Discussing and answering questions about your Disability while maintaining appropriate boundaries

How will Ruils support you?

We will provide you with onboarding training, safeguarding training and ongoing support throughout your time volunteering with us. This includes regular check ins over the phone and in person support sessions and trainings open to all volunteers.
