About this Opportunity

We want your volunteering experience to be meaningful and rewarding. Being part of our valued community offers opportunities to connect with others, learn more about lymphoma, enhance your wellbeing and utilise or develop your skills.

About this role

On Sunday 14 June, we're holding our biggest Bridges of London event yet! It's an excellent day outside and will be even more special this year as we celebrate our 40th anniversary.

We are looking for people who would like to join our squad of cheerleaders, marshals and helpers throughout the route. However you get involved, your time will make a huge difference in supporting our walkers and staff on the day.

Pick your squad and join our small but mighty team!

What's involved?

You will be supported by staff on the day and provided with the resources you need, as well as refreshments. We're offering 4 ways to get involved:

Registration Squad, 8-11am: You'll be based in Vauxhall where you will greet walkers at the station and direct to City Farm HQ where teams are registering and setting off. We will also need a few volunteers on our registration desks to meet and greet.

You are welcome to join the walk itself once your shift is finished and are also very welcome to support at one of our other venues if you have more time to give.

Bridge Squad, 8am-2pm: You'll be allocated a spot with another volunteer on one of the beautiful bridges that we cross and your role will be to help direct and cheer on our walkers. (Please note you will need to walk to the bridge location!) You will first be given detailed instructions on how to direct the walkers - you will either be at the entrance or exit of a bridge guiding them.

Expect to be needed for 3-4 hours once in position. A hi-vis vest will be provided and our route manager will check in on you throughout your shift. Enjoy the best views in London and experience the joy of this event up close as our walkers pass your way.

BFI Squad, 10am-2pm: Support us at our midway point where we will be manning a water station and encouraging our walkers onto the final half. Based at the BFI on the Southbank by Waterloo Bridge. You are welcome to walk the final half of the event after your shift ends.

Finish Line Squad, 12-4pm: Help ensure our walkers receive the hero's welcome they deserve at our finish venue near Tower Bridge. Hand out medals, signpost people to refreshments / toilets and be our final cheer squad of the day.

We also welcome all volunteers to join our finish line venue after their shifts to celebrate with us!

Where travel is involved, we reimburse reasonable expenses. Staff will offer a quick Zoom call ahead of the event to go over any questions and introduce themselves.
