About this Opportunity

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

Help inspire your community to donate and keep our shops full of great-quality stock.

Stock donations are at the heart of our shops, and this role is all about helping us find more of them. You’ll connect with people and organisations in the local community and encourage them to give unwanted items a new purpose.

You can expect us to

  • Make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
  • Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
  • Cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
  • Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

A bit more information about this role and the team

Our brand-new Skipton store is due to open on the 26 November, so we’ll be looking for our new volunteers to start then. To welcome our new volunteers and get you up to speed, we’re aiming to hold a volunteer induction session(s) during the week commencing 16 November.

What we need from you

  • Promoting current donation campaigns and encouraging customers to donate
  • Distributing donation bags and information within the local community
  • Helping organise and coordinate collections of donated stock
  • Building relationships with local businesses, hotels and other organisations that may have items to donate
  • Identifying opportunities for donations when local organisations are refurbishing, relocating or clearing stock
  • Supporting community donation drives and special stock-generation events
  • Helping spread the word about what we need and how people can donate
  • Collaborating with the shop team to identify the types of stock most needed locally

Time expectation

Our Stock Generation Volunteers usually spend around four hours per day in this role.

You may be just the volunteer we've been looking for!

About the Organisation

CatsProtection

From humble beginnings in 1927, Cats Protection has grown to become the UK's leading feline welfare charity. We now help around 235,000 cats and kittens every year through our network of over 260 volunteer-run branches, 29 adoption centres and our homing centre. Our work doesn’t stop there, however: we also provide an array of cat care information via our publications, website and Helpline; promote the benefits of neutering to prevent unwanted litters from being born and becoming the abandoned cats of tomorrow and seek to educate people of all ages about cats and their care.
