A crucial volunteer role at the centre, volunteer Reception Helpers help out at least one morning per week to warmly welcome members to the centre, help with queries (in person, by email and over the phone) and direct people to our various activities. This is an active and varied way to volunteer where no two days are the same!

As a charity we are only able to help thousands of cats and kittens each year thanks to the donations we receive from generous members of the public. Our online fundraisers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by organising online sales of goods, using social media to encourage donations and any other innovative ways to raise funds they can think of! Making a difference can mean as little as raising 18p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day.

The Drinks’ Trolley at St Joseph’s Hospices visits our wards twice a day to offer patients free alcoholic/soft refreshments & chatting to patients, family & friends.

Who are we? One Million Mentors is a unique, community-based mentoring programme, bringing together local young people and volunteer mentors who give an hour a month for up to a year. Since inception, we've successfully partnered with schools, colleges, universities, youth organisations, employer organisations and individuals across the UK to fully train over 3,000 mentors who have positively changed the lives of 5,000 young people. We recruit our mentors from a variety of professional backgrounds and provide them with specialist training and ongoing support. We then match each mentor with a young person aged 14-25 based on the mentee's goals and aspirations, targeting young people with high potential but low social capital. Tech Buddies is a project with a huge positive impact on social connectedness and mental health among our older neighbours. The aim of Tech Buddies is to inspire and then support older people to get digitally connected and confident, to stay safe online and to use the internet regularly until they are happy to do so on their own. Together, the Tech Buddy volunteer and learner explore what technology can offer. Wednesdays and/or Saturdays you’ll be helping members aged 60+ get savvy using their smart phones, tablets, and laptops. You could be helping with anything from sending emails to installing apps.

This role involves being available for a mix of weekly drop-in IT sessions in which you will provide ‘floating support’ as well as pre-arranged one-to-one sessions in order to help clients complete more specific tasks relevant to them.

Our Pick and Pack team are based in one of our lively baby banks. Together we sort, check, and prepare pre-loved items for children. Volunteers create high-quality bundles of toys, clothes, and equipment to gift to families. “You can’t imagine the happiness I saw on my little girl’s face when she opened box. The Fundraising Manager organises centralised fundraising such as major events and online initiatives. They also provide oversight to the Fundraising Officers within the chapters, ensuring they are supported and capable in their role, offering ideas, advice, assistance and ensuring legal compliance.
