A Day in the Life of a Vinspired Youth Advisory Board Member

Last week, our Youth Advisory Board (YAB) was called upon to lend a hand in preparing for the upcoming Team V induction weekend. As a proactive member, I eagerly seized the opportunity to contribute, especially since I’m part of the team supporting this induction event.

Following our monthly YAB meeting in London, which was notably our first weekday gathering, I stayed overnight. Despite the weekday schedule making attendance difficult for some members, the meeting was incredibly productive. We updated each other on forthcoming projects and connected with the broader team that powers Vinspired.

Staying on to assist with the weekend’s residential preparations, I found the day busy yet enjoyable, supported by the Vinspired team. Alongside another YAB member, I engaged in various tasks, including crafting presentations, organizing Team V leaders’ sleep arrangements, and designing a survey for a new website. I capped off the day by focusing on my personal development plan, with guidance from the Youth Involvement Coordinator, who helped me identify future growth opportunities within Vinspired.

These experiences highlight Vinspired’s commitment to involving young people in every facet of their operations. This Friday marks ‘Takeover Day,’ an initiative that empowers youth to engage in organizational decision-making processes. Having participated in such decision-making at Vinspired, I understand its significance.

I hope this glimpse into my role as a YAB member illustrates the impactful work young people can achieve with Vinspired. The journey so far has been rewarding, and I’m excited for the weekend ahead, where we will inspire more young leaders in our communities.
