Natwest OSCA’s 2010: Celebrating Outstanding Service to Cricket
Delve into the thrilling world of cricket volunteering as we recap the prestigious Natwest OSCA’s 2010 event held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground. This annual celebration acknowledges the incredible dedication and contribution of volunteers across the nation to the game of cricket.
A Day at Lord’s
Last Monday, I found myself amidst cricket legends at Lord’s Cricket Ground for the ECB’s volunteer recognition event, the Natwest OSCA’s 2010. While the glamour was almost on par with the actual Oscars, these awards—known as ‘Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards’—celebrate the time, energy, and passion volunteers invest in cricket.
Recognizing Remarkable Volunteers
Cricket, much like many local clubs, thrives on the dedication of its volunteers. This event saw cricket greats such as Mike Gatting, Michael Vaughan, John Agnew, Steve Finn, and Matt Prior applauding some of the UK’s most committed volunteers. The highlight was the presentation of the ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’ award by Vinspired’s CEO. This accolade celebrates young individuals aged 16-25 who have significantly contributed to the sport.
Winner Spotlight: Tom Mills, who has volunteered at Formby Cricket Club for four years, has raised over £7,000 through club events, established a club website, and even managed and coached the U13 team. Learn more about the nominees and winners.
Supporting Young Volunteers
Vinspired continues to support the ECB by match funding the V Cricket scheme, which offers young people aged 16-25 various opportunities to engage with the sport. Discover more about V Cricket.
Final Thoughts
As the event concluded, I managed to capture some memorable moments with cricket stars like Steve Finn and Michael Vaughan. With Steve Finn and Matt Prior soon heading to the Ashes in Australia, we wish them the best of luck. Keep an eye out for their performances!
