June’s Spotlight: Rand’s Artful Children Project

Rand, our esteemed Volunteer of the Month for June, has made remarkable strides with her project, Artful Children. This initiative provided a creative outlet for Syrian refugee children, offering them a supportive environment to explore their artistic skills. Her nomination came from her Cashpoint Coordinator, recognizing Rand’s exceptional dedication and impact.

Impact on the Community

Rand’s art sessions consistently engaged 15 young participants, providing them not only with new art skills but also a platform to express themselves. This initiative brought a sense of joy and positivity to the Syrian community, offering something truly worth celebrating.

Rand’s Journey

When asked about her experience, Rand expressed surprise and joy at receiving the Volunteer of the Month award. “It wasn’t just my efforts,” she humbly noted. “The support of my volunteers, my sister, and Vinspired played a crucial role in our success.”

Volunteering Experience and Skills

Rand has been active in volunteering for over a decade, engaging in various projects across different organizations. Her project, Artful Children, ran for six weeks, targeting Syrian refugee children in Manchester. It incorporated art therapy, helping children deal with past traumas while learning new skills and making new friends in a relaxed setting.

Memorable Volunteering Moments

Reflecting on her most memorable experiences, Rand recalls volunteering during the Brazil 2014 World Cup, where she helped set up a public viewing area. “It was a unique experience,” she shared, “one that I had never been involved in before.”

Skills Acquired Through Volunteering

Rand has honed numerous skills through her volunteering endeavors, including teamwork, communication, project management, organization, and time management. These experiences have not only enriched her personal life but have also opened up potential career paths in sectors that align with her passions.

Future Aspirations

While volunteering brings Rand immense joy and satisfaction, she is also considering a future in sectors that align with her values, recognizing the rewarding nature of such work.
