About this Opportunity

People living with a serious, long-term, or terminal illness often struggle with loneliness and could do with some extra support. Compassionate Neighbours is a network of trained volunteers who are willing to offer their time, companionship, and support to people living in their community who are coping with serious illness.

Compassionate Neighbours can help others by:

  • Offering companionship, emotional support, and a listening ear
  • Providing practical support, such as making a cup of tea
  • Helping them to stay connected to their friends and the community
  • Directing them to important support services to help them get through this difficult time
This role requires you to be:

  • 18+
  • Able to supply the details of two referees
  • Willing to apply for an Enhanced Adult DBS certificate with St. Joseph’s Hospice (unless you are subscribed to the Update Service)
  • Able to attend two days Compassionate Neighbours training.

About the Organisation

St Joseph's Hospice

St Joseph’s Hospice looks after and supports people over 18 years of age with incurable life limiting conditions. We aim to help people to ‘live’ with their illness as comfortably and independently as they can. We also aim to support friends, families and carers who may also be affected by an individual's illness.
