Horticulture Assistant
An unique opportinity to be volunteer in a unusual garden. Learn about and be involved in all aspects of gardening, wildlife care, landscape design, and associated art & crafts. The range of skills learnt is broadly in line with RHS Levels 1 & 2.
No skills or previous experience or qualifications required as full training/tuition/guidance given. Minimum attendance is 4 hours per wek up to as long as you want. Benefits to be gained: wide range of gardening skills; self reliance; knowledge of conservation/ wildlife; c.v. improvement; understanding of landscape design + art & crafts; research techniques and much more. Helping in a unique garden to maintain and develop it generally all year and also for open days and wildlife enhancement. It will include aspects of gardening with shrubs, flowers, fruit, vegetables. Caring for trees. Maintaining and improving the garden landscaping and design, and artistic features. Some simple DIY & art/craft (eg painting sheds/outbuilding; maintaining statues & fountains) Working with and encouraging animals especially fish, bees, butterflies, birds and other creatures. There is also use of the gym, and the small pool as well as the library. During bad weather study & work is done indoors. There is an on-site library for further support. Meals & refreshment is provided . The volunteer will work directly with Stephen Cox. Expertise not essential as training will be given. Enthusiasm for the role activities and desire to learn and get involved is important however. On the A4: very close to bus stop (from Calne, Chippenham, Melksham, Devizes, Bath,Swindon).
