Following is the lightest relationship on Vinspired. It asks nothing of you and gives the organisation nothing about you. Press Follow on an organisation's page and its public posts and opportunities start arriving in your feed. That is the whole of it.
Your feed is built only from the organisations you follow, and only from what they published in public. A post an organisation wrote for its members, a roster, a register, somebody else's hours: none of that is in a feed, because none of it is public. What you see is what anyone could see on the organisation's page, gathered in one place so you do not have to go looking.
You can follow a person as well as an organisation. A follow between people is public and one-way, like following a writer. It does not open a message route, it does not show you their record beyond their public profile, and nobody is told how many people follow them as if it were a score.
Following is also how a relationship carries on after membership ends. When you leave a school or an organisation, or when they move you into their alumni group, you stop being a member and stay a follower. Their public updates still reach you. Your record stays yours.
There is no algorithm choosing what you see. The feed is the organisations you chose, newest first, and it ends when their posts end. Unfollow and it stops. Nothing here is designed to keep you scrolling, and nothing here counts your attention as a result.

What does an organisation learn when I follow it?
That you follow it, and nothing more. Following does not share your hours, your record or your contact details.
Is the feed public?
Everything in it is already public. The feed only gathers what the organisations you follow have published on their pages.
Can I message someone I follow?
No. Following opens no message route. Messages on Vinspired are conversations between an organisation and a person who applied to it or joined it, never between followers.
What happens when I leave an organisation?
Membership ends and the follow stays, so their public updates still reach you. Your record, hours and awards stay on your profile.
Does following cost anything?
No. Volunteers never pay to use Vinspired, and following is free for everyone.
