Before you start

  • Your organisation profile set up, so applicants can see who you are.
  • A title, a description and a rough idea of when and where the volunteering happens.
  • Any extra questions you want applicants to answer, built first under Forms.

Steps

  1. Open the menu and, under Content, choose Opportunities. Press Create Opportunity.
  2. Fill in the Opportunity Title, a Short Description for search results and the Full Description.
  3. Choose an Opportunity Category, then the Skills Volunteers Will Gain and the Impact Areas it supports.
  4. Set the Time Commitment, the Location and the Application Deadline, and tell people What Happens Next? once they apply.
  5. To ask extra questions, pick a form under Application questions. To build one, open Forms under Content, press New form, add your questions and press Create form.
  6. Turn on Publish Opportunity and press Create Opportunity.
  7. When somebody applies, open the menu and, under People, choose Applications, then Volunteering Applications. Press Approve or Reject on each one.
  8. To handle several at once, tick them and press Approve Selected. To write to them, tick them and press Send Message.

What happens next

A published opportunity appears in search and on your profile page. Press Copy link next to it on the opportunities list to share it anywhere. Applicants see Application submitted on the opportunity, then Approved or Rejected on their dashboard. An approved volunteer can log hours against the opportunity, and those hours come to you to approve.

Common problems

  • The opportunity is not showing up. It is still a Draft. Press Publish on the opportunities list.
  • You cannot see Application questions. Forms are available to your organisation on some levels only, and the picker appears once you have at least one active form.
  • Nobody has applied. Share the link. Opportunities with a clear title, a location and a deadline get more applications.
