An opportunity is a public listing of something you need volunteers for. It carries the role, the location, the impact areas and skills it touches, and the dates it runs. Once published it appears on your organisation profile, in the Vinspired volunteering search, and on the location and skill pages a search engine is already indexing.
Applications arrive in one queue rather than in an inbox. You can see who applied, read their answers, approve or decline, and message the person from the same screen. Nobody has to keep a parallel spreadsheet to know who said yes.
Custom questions let you ask what you need before someone arrives: a date of birth for an age restricted role, a shirt size, a school year, whether they need a lift. The answers sit with the application rather than in a reply chain.
Listings are not a noticeboard you have to keep tidy by hand. An opportunity whose dates have passed stops appearing in the search, and one you unpublish leaves your profile without leaving a dead page behind. If the same role runs again next term, you republish it rather than write it again from nothing.

Questions people ask
Does an opportunity have to be public?
No. You can keep one to your own members and groups, which is what most schools and companies do. A public listing is the option, not the default.
What happens when somebody applies?
The application lands in your queue with the answers to your questions attached. You approve or decline it, and the volunteer is told either way.
Can we ask for a date of birth or a school year?
Yes, through custom questions. Ask only what you will act on, because the answers are stored with the application.
Do listings show up in search engines?
Yes. Published opportunities appear on your profile and on the location and skill pages, which are in the sitemap.
Is posting opportunities free?
Posting opportunities and managing applications are free on every level. Custom questions belong to the levels named at the top of this page.
