Groups and Members

Your people in one list, split into the groups you actually use.

Live Free on every level

Read from the same files the product reads, so this page cannot claim something the code does not do. Everything Vinspired does

A membership is somebody who belongs to your organisation. A group is a subset of them: a year, a department, a team, a project. Almost everything else on Vinspired points at one of the two. You send a message to a group, restrict a sign-up sheet to a group, enrol a group in a club, and report participation by group.

Members join by request or by invitation, and you can upload a list as a CSV rather than inviting a hundred people one at a time. Uploading is free and always has been, because charging an organisation to tell us who its people are would be charging for the setup rather than for the work.

Groups are yours to shape. A school usually mirrors year groups and houses, a charity mirrors projects or sites, a company mirrors offices or departments. Nothing forces a structure on you, and a member can belong to as many groups as makes sense.

Groups are also what keeps reporting honest. Participation counted across a whole organisation hides the year group nothing reached; the same figure split by group shows it in a line. That is usually the number worth acting on, rather than the total at the top of the page.

Membership is also what decides who you can reach. Messaging, sign-up sheets and club enrolment all read the same list, so adding somebody to a group is the whole of the setup rather than the first of four places you have to remember to add them.

How it works

Three steps

  1. Add your people

Invite them, accept their requests, or upload a CSV of the list you already have.

  2. Make your groups

Years, houses, departments, sites, projects. A member can be in several.

  3. Use them everywhere

Messages, sign-up sheets, club enrolment and reporting all point at groups.

Who it serves

Who this is for

  • Schools and colleges

Years and houses that match the school, so reporting matches the way you already talk about students.

  • Companies

Departments and offices, so participation reads the way your organisation is actually arranged.

  • Charities and community groups

Projects and sites, so a message reaches the people on one of them rather than everybody.

Questions

Questions people ask

Is there a limit on members?

No. Nothing on Vinspired is priced per volunteer, per pupil or per member, so more people taking part never raises what you pay.

Can we upload our member list?

Yes, as a CSV. Uploading members is free on every level.

Can a member be in more than one group?

Yes, as many as you need. Groups are a way of talking about your people, not a filing cabinet with one drawer each.

What is the difference between a group and a roster?

Group members have accounts. A roster is a list of people who do not, uploaded for attendance and reporting through the Experience Log.

What happens when somebody leaves?

Their membership ends and they keep their own record. Your reporting still shows the period they were with you.
