Most volunteering is not logged by the volunteer. A member of staff watched thirty students spend an afternoon on something and needs that afternoon on thirty records. The Experience Log is built for exactly that: pick the people, pick the task, set the hours and the date, and submit once.
Tasks are the reusable half. A task is a named piece of work with default hours attached, so "litter pick, two hours" is chosen rather than retyped, and two members of staff logging the same activity produce the same number.
Hours logged this way are kept in their own bucket with their own audit label, so they are never mistaken for something a young person claimed themselves. The record shows who entered it and when. That distinction is what makes the total defensible when somebody asks.
Roster uploads handle the people who have no account. Upload a list, track attendance and hours against those rows, and report on them, without creating a login for a fourteen year old who does not need one.
None of this asks a young person to do administration. They see the hours arrive on their record, and the person entering them is the person who was already there holding a register. That is the difference between a system that gets used every week and one that gets used in July.

How is this different from a volunteer logging their own hours?
A volunteer's own claim is approved by the organisation before it counts. Staff logged hours are entered by your team and carry their own audit label, so the two are never confused.
Do the students need accounts?
Not for roster rows. Upload the list and record against it. People who do have accounts get the hours on their own record.
Can two staff log the same activity twice?
They can, and the record shows who entered each one. Using a shared task with default hours is what stops the same afternoon being counted at two different lengths.
Do logged hours count towards certificates?
Yes, once approved. They are verified in the sense that matters: somebody accountable stood behind them.
Can we correct a mistake?
Yes. An entry can be changed or removed, and the record reflects the correction rather than hiding it.
