Recognition on Vinspired is two shapes with two meanings. A badge is a circle and marks a specific skill or impact area. A certificate is a square and marks a threshold of verified volunteering hours. One word is never used for the other, because the difference is what makes either one worth having.
Your organisation can design and award both. Badges you create belong to your programme, so the thing a volunteer earns with you carries your name. Certificates follow the hours: they are earned rather than granted, and the hours behind them were approved by somebody accountable.
The volunteer keeps them. A student who moves school, or a volunteer who stops coming, keeps the record and everything on it. That is the whole reason a record is worth building, and it is why nothing here can be purchased. A certificate is the highest thing anyone earns on Vinspired.
Recognition here is deliberately quiet. There is no public league table of volunteers, no streak that decays when somebody misses a fortnight, and no score that falls because life got busy. What a young person earned stays earned, and nobody is ranked against anybody else.
Awards are also a reason for somebody to come back. A volunteer who can see what the next certificate takes has a reason to log the next afternoon, and an organisation that recognises people properly keeps them for longer than one that thanks them in a group message.

What is the difference between a badge and a certificate?
A badge is a circle and marks a skill or an impact area. A certificate is a square and marks a threshold of verified volunteering hours. They are never interchangeable.
Can a certificate be bought?
No. A certificate is the highest thing anyone earns here and it cannot be bought, sponsored or granted as a favour. Supporting Vinspired unlocks nothing.
What happens if a volunteer leaves our organisation?
They keep everything. The record belongs to the volunteer, not to the organisation that issued the award.
Can we design our own badges?
Yes, with your own artwork and criteria. Badge designs go through an approval step before they can be awarded.
Do enrichment hours earn certificates?
No. Certificates mark verified volunteering hours. Enrichment participation is counted separately and can earn badges.
