At a glance

  1. Create your account.
  2. Join your school and your tutor group.
  3. Log your hours after each activity.
  4. Apply for a certificate at 10 hours.

Before you start

  • An email address you can open.
  • The name of your tutor group. Your teacher will tell you.
  • If your school added you already, you have an email from Vinspired with a link to set a password. Use it, then start at step 2.

Steps

  1. Go to vinspired.com and press Sign up. Add your name, your email and a password, then press Sign up and confirm your email from the message we send. Why it counts: your account is where your hours live, and it stays yours after you leave school.
  2. Press Explore, choose Organisations and find your school. On its page, under Memberships & Groups, press Join followed by your school’s name. Why it counts: your school can only see and approve your hours once you are a member.
  3. In the same section, press Join next to your tutor group. Both buttons say Awaiting Approval until a teacher approves you, then Member and Joined.
  4. After you volunteer, open your dashboard and press Log experience, then Membership. Why it counts: every hour you log builds your record.
  5. Set the Date of experience, type the Hours spent, write a short Description of what you did, and press Submit. Your hours show as Pending until a teacher approves them.
  6. Volunteered outside school? Press Log experience and choose External Experience. Name a referee who saw you do it, and they confirm it by email.
  7. At 10 approved hours, open My certificates on your dashboard, open V10 and press Apply. V30 needs 30 hours, V50 needs 50 and V100 needs 100. Why it counts: a certificate is proof you can show a college, a university or an employer.
  8. Once it is approved, open it and press Copy link, LinkedIn or Download PDF to share it.

What happens next

Your dashboard shows your Verified hours, your certificates and your badges. Badges for skills and causes unlock on their own at 10, 50 and 100 hours. Everything you earn stays on your profile after you leave school.

If you signed up yourself, your profile page is public. If your school added you, it is private.

Common problems

  • You cannot find your school. Check the spelling, or ask your teacher for the link to the school’s page.
  • Membership is not offered when you log hours. Your school has not approved you yet. Ask the teacher who looks after Vinspired.
  • Your hours have been pending for a while. Only your school’s admins can approve them. Ask them to check.
  • You forgot your password. On the Log in page, press Forgot your password? and follow the email.
